Anput is an ancient Egyptian goddess associated with mourning and protection. She is the wife and female version of Anubis, the god of embalming and the afterlife.

Anput is the female counterpart of the god Anubis. She is also a goddess of the seventeenth nome of Upper Egypt. She is also considered the protector of the body of Osiris, the god of the afterlife.

Anput (Input) was the wife of Anubis, the mother of Kebechet (the goddess of purification) and the personification of the seventeenth nome of Upper Egypt. Her name is merely the female version of the name of her husband, Anubis (“t” is the feminine ending and Anubis was known as Anpu or Inpu to the Egyptians).

Anubis was also believed to have a wife, the goddess Input. Input was a lesser-known deity often depicted as a female version of Anubis with the same jackal-headed appearance. Anubis and Anput were thought to have a daughter named Kebechet, the goddess of purification and embalming.

Qebhet (also known as Kebehwet, Kabechet or Kebechet) is a benevolent goddess of ancient Egypt. She is the daughter of the god Anubis, granddaughter of the goddess Nephthys and god Osiris, and is the personification of cool, refreshing water as she brings drink to the souls of the dead in the afterlife Hall of Truth.
